AIYOUB SHAHI
PhD Student at Istanbul Technical University
ABOUT ME

I am a third year Environmental Biotechnology PhD student at Istanbul Technical University. I am honored to join to Microbial Ecology Group supervised by Prof. Dr. Orhan Ince and Prof. Dr. Bahar Kasapgil Ince.

My Master's was in Plant Ecology and Systematics from the University of Tabriz. My Master's thesis was concerned with the decline risk of Juniperus communis L. population on Mishu-dagh altitudes in northwest Iran. The thesis supervisor was Prof. Dr. Ali Asghar Neishabouri, a real teacher, who had the biggest impact on my academic life. Unfortunately, he passed away before his time. In Master's project, the main factors which could affect the population structure of Juniperus communis L. were studied.  I have got my BSc in Biology from the University of Tabriz too.

After graduating from Master's, I spent six years as a teaching assistant in some universities mainly at the University of Tabriz. Working at a new founded university in the beautiful city of Kaleyber in the northwest Iran was my first and unforgettable teaching experience as a biologist. Teaching of Ecology-related courses, as a successor to my late professor, at the University of Tabriz for four academic years, was also an important event in my life.
